“The drugs work well in these patients because once they get their erectile function back, their confidence improves, their performance anxiety gets better, and they get better,” Dr. Walker says.

The stress of erectile dysfunction and its toll on self-confidence and/or a relationship can be hard to deal with. Speaking to a psychologist or counselor about how to cope emotionally can be of great benefit to some people.
Erectile dysfunction (ED), formerly termed impotence, is defined as the persistent inability to develop or maintain a penile erection allowing for satisfactory sexual performance.1 ED is an important public health problem and can cause serious distress to men, particularly affecting their masculinity and self-esteem.2,3 The Massachusetts Male Aging Study reported an overall prevalence of 52% for any degree of ED and demonstrated that prevalence clearly increases with age.3 For instance, the annual incidence rate reported was 12.4 cases per 1,000 man-years, 29.8 and 46.4 for men aged 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 to 69 years, respectively.3

When a patient does bring up ED, Dr. Walker considers it “a teachable moment”—an opportunity to talk about lifestyle changes, especially for men suffering from cardiac risk factors. “If the patient is very unhealthy and has not exerted himself, sexual activity can be a risky exertion,” he says. “It’s a level of activity and exercise that causes your heart rate to increase. If you haven’t done that recently, taking the medication and being sexually active can put you at risk.”
The foods you eat can have a direct impact on erectile dysfunction, Dr. Mucher says. A diet rich in fruit, veggies, whole grains, and fish, and with fewer servings of red meat and refined grains, decreases the risk for ED.

Max Performer is very similar to Male Extra, but it contains many more ingredients (learn more about them at our full review of the product). This can increase the chances of Max Performer working for you, but it will decrease your ability to know which ingredients are effective. More ingredients mean more potential for side effects, as well.
ED medications can also be taken with or without food. However, if you take them with a heavy meal, you may delay their effects by about an hour (with the exception of Tadalafil Daily).
This is why a healthy circulatory system is key to maintaining penile health. In addition, stress causes nerve endings to be less receptive to incoming signals, making erection difficult.
Erectile dysfunction occurs when sexual stimulation or arousal does not result in enough blood flow to your penis, even though you may still have the urge. For some men there is a physical or medical reason for this. For others the problem is related to thoughts or emotions.
Since the arteries in the penis are very small, often ED is one of the first signs of damage resulting from other medical conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
If the issue you’re facing is mild or you don’t like the idea of taking medication, you might want to start by trying natural techniques for treating your sexual health.
